Use Case · Job Application

Hire without a recruiter —
and without an ATS subscription.

Brieform turns your job description into a structured application form with conditional logic and auto-fired confirmation emails — then your AI reads, filters, and compares candidates without you opening a spreadsheet.

Why hiring is broken for small teams

The hiring stack for a 1–10 person company doesn't really exist. ATS subscriptions start at $99/month and scale fast — they're priced for companies with full-time recruiters. So most small teams improvise: a Typeform for applications, a Sheet for the candidate list, a Zap to ping Slack on submissions, and a half-broken process for sending personalized confirmations. The CV is in the form, the cover letter is in another field, and your hiring manager opens 12 tabs every Monday morning to figure out who to interview.

For freelancers hiring contractors, agencies hiring junior designers, or indie founders hiring their first engineer, the friction is the same: applications come in unstructured, candidates wait days for a confirmation email that never arrives, and the "good ones" get lost between LinkedIn DMs and Sheet rows.

Brieform replaces the entire pre-screen workflow

Instead of stitching tools, Brieform handles the full intake: structured form, conditional fields by role, candidate confirmation emails, and MCP-native access so your AI can read and compare applicants in chat. One wizard, one place where every applicant lives.

Conditional logic so irrelevant questions are hidden by role or seniority
Auto-fired confirmation emails with field variables — {{name}} and {{role}} per submission
Read candidates in your AI chat — ask to filter, compare, or summarize applicants
Route top candidates to Slack or Notion through your AI (if already connected)
CSV export for pipeline reporting and finance

How a Brieform job application actually flows

You're hiring a senior product designer at a 5-person SaaS. You launch the form via the job application template, customize it in chat, and embed it on your careers page.

  1. 1

Candidate Sarah submits her application — CV, cover letter, portfolio link, salary expectation, and the role-specific question you added

  2. 2

Sarah receives a branded confirmation email within seconds: "Thanks Sarah — we received your application for Senior Designer. We're reviewing this week and will get back by Friday."

  3. 3

Ask your AI: "Show me today's new applications" — it calls get_responses and returns them inline

  4. 4

Ask your AI: "Compare the top 3 applicants for the Senior Designer role" — it reads the structured answers and summarizes

  5. 5

If your AI has Notion or Slack connected, ask it to log candidates or ping your hiring channel on the strong ones

  6. 6

Export CSV at any time for pipeline tracking or to share with a co-founder

How to launch a Brieform job application form

A small team can stand up a clean hiring form in 10 minutes. Compare to a typical ATS onboarding, which takes a week.

  1. 1

Open the job application template at /templates/job-application-form

  2. 2

Describe the role in the wizard chat — Brieform generates the fields and conditional logic for your application

  3. 3

Add or remove fields in chat — "Add a 'Years of management experience' field, make it conditional on Seniority = Senior or Lead"

  4. 4

Configure the confirmation email with field variables for personalization

  5. 5

Ask your AI to read and compare candidates via the MCP server — no spreadsheet setup required

  6. 6

Embed on your careers page or share the public /f/[slug] link in your job ads

FAQ

Is Brieform a full ATS replacement?

No, and we don't claim to be. Brieform is a structured intake with conditional logic and confirmation emails — it gets you from wide funnel to top candidates cleanly. For interview scorecards, scheduling, and offer letters, layer on a tool built for that. Most small teams ask their AI to track the pipeline after Brieform.

Can I compare candidates without a spreadsheet?

Yes. Ask your AI to call get_responses and then compare specific candidates: "Compare the top 3 applicants for the Senior Designer role." Your AI reads the structured answers and summarizes them inline.

Is applicant data encrypted?

Yes. Data is encrypted at rest in PostgreSQL, transferred over TLS, and hosted in Frankfurt (EU). Applicants can request deletion any time per GDPR; Brieform handles the deletion natively.

What happens to candidates who don't match?

You decide. Most teams configure an auto-fired courtesy email letting candidates know you will keep their details on file. All applications are stored in the Brieform dashboard and available via CSV export — your AI can access them at any time.
